Friday Fun Night-Parents Night Out

1st Friday of Every Month
(September-May)
6-9pm

Parents enjoy a night out while our children's ministry provides a fun place for your children to hang out. Each month brings a different theme and a different meal. It is a lot of fun. Many children come in their PJs so they are ready for bed when they get home.

Thank you for making sure we receive your RSVP no later than the first Tuesday of each month.

May Worship Opportunities

May 12th

A celebration of women will take place on this Sunday. We will honor our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, nieces and sisters during worship. We will praise the teachers who shaped and molded us and we will remember those who have passed on and those who made an impact in our lives. Our children’s choir will sing and Pastor Jeff will preach about a Mother’s Heart.

May 19th

We celebrate the act of Pentecost today as we remember the power of the Holy Spirit coming upon the church of Jesus’ day. Our puppets will tell us the story of Pentecost and the Back Porch Gang will lead our worship music.

May 26th

Our veterans will be honored and recognized on this Memorial Sunday. The sacrament of Holy Communion will be served and we will share in the bread and the wine as a church family. Join us for this special service.

Food Pantry

For only $12.00 a month you can “ADOPT A BAG” and provide a family in our community with one bag of groceries. You can have the $12.00 auto drafted or put it in the offering plate on Sunday mornings. (be sure to note that it’s for ADOPT A BAG) You may also elect to pay in full for 3 months, 6 months, or a full year. You can email us at foodpantry@laneschapel.com . Please let us know if you would like to make a monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, or yearly commitment to this ministry.

The Food Pantry is also looking to get a refrigerator. If you have one you’d like to donate or if you’d like to purchase one for the pantry, please contact the church office.

Basket Ministry

Lanes Chapel UMC Basket Ministry

Like a basket, this ministry weaves together prayers of hope, encouragement and caring. The weaving begins with God and involves all church members and ministries. The Basket Ministry will regularly assemble and deliver baskets filled with inspirational materials, treats, tea, handmade crafts and small gifts. Each basket is prayed over by our ministry then blessed by our Pastor, Jeff Gage.

The Basket Ministry operates through donations of supplies: baskets, plastic wrap, silk flowers, ribbon, gently used or new items, tea, stuffed animals, cards, handmade items, inspirational books/materials, treats, small gifts. Monetary donations: please make your check payable to Lanes Chapel UMC and write “Basket Ministry” in the memo line. Drop your check in the offering plate or send to Lanes Chapel UMC • 8720 Old Jacksonville  Hwy • Tyler, TX 75703.

Types of baskets: Welcome New Members (We love our new members. What a great way to welcome them with their Bible, name tag, church information!), Welcome New Neighbors/Church Invitation (Do you have new neighbors? Welcome them to the neighborhood with a lovely Welcome Basket from Lanes Chapel), Homebound (Do you know someone who is homebound and could use a “hug” from our church?), Get Well (Minister To Those Who Are Sick) (Let’s lift the spirits of those who are sick/hospitalized and their families!).

As the ministry builds - Expanding to: Welcome Newborn Babies, Help in Celebrating Special Occasions, Offer Encouragement, Offer Our Congratulations for accomplishments, And more to come. If you have questions, want to make a donation or volunteer for assembly and delivery of baskets, please contact Gail Grindele by email gailgrindele@yahoo.com or by phone 903-258-0965.

What is Focus on the Family's The Truth Project®

"In a recent study, the Barna Research Group revealed a stunning statistic that continues to reverberate throughout the evangelical world. Only 9 percent of professing Christians have a biblical worldview.1

Because of this, today's believers live very similarly to non-believers. A personal sense of significance is rarely experienced, we spend our money and time on things that fail to satisfy and we begin to wonder what life's ultimate purpose really is. We are, in short, losing our bearings as a people and a nation.

To counter this slide within the body of Christ, we are launching one of the most ambitious and powerful projects in the history of our ministry—Focus on the Family's The Truth Project.

The Truth Project is a DVD-based small group curriculum comprised of 13 one-hour lessons taught by Dr. Del Tackett. This home study is the starting point for looking at life from a biblical perspective. Each lesson discusses in great detail the relevance and importance of living the Christian worldview in daily life.

We believe this one project represents the possibility for exponential change within the body of Christ, as we expect that thousands will be transformed by this curriculum. As it has been throughout history, God continues to call ordinary people to make an eternal difference in our world.

We invite you to be a part of this cultural change by participating in or leading a small group of your own. Contact us to learn how you can get involved in Focus on the Family's The Truth Project!
