Our Pastors & Staff

Jeff Gage comes to Tyler from Bryan, Texas where he has been the Associate Pastor of First United Methodist Bryan since  2006. He also served as senior pastor at Hooks UMC from 2002-2006 and began his ministry in 2000 at Strawbridge UMC in Kingwood. Originally a pharmacist, Rev. Gage is a lifelong Methodist from Henderson, Texas and enjoys woodworking, cooking and gardening. His wife, Donna, holds a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Illinois. They have 3 children Katie (14), Eli (9), and Desi (2) who are homeschooled and love books. As a family they love spending time together playing games, camping, letterboxing, or watching movies.

Jeff will officially begin as Senior Pastor at Lanes Chapel Wednesday, February 1^st.  Be there Sunday, February 5^th as we meet God’s servant and hear the preached word.  Please join us every Sunday as we spiritually prepare for our new pastor and learn more about his family!!!  Thank you Lord & Savior for sending us Your choice!  We are committed to reaching the lost and will be sure to give You all of the glory!!!

Bob Green is the Director Of Pastoral Care and Facilities at Lanes Chapel.  He is a Graduate of
Stephen F. Austin University and has served 32 years in Church related vocation.  He has served
the Church as a Minister of Education, in Administration, with Sr. Adults, & Recreation.  Bob is currently serving on the District Finance Committee and the Texas Conference CF&A Committee. Bob is married with 4 grown children and 2 grandchildren. He enjoys Sports Officiating, Golf, and Travel. 

"God’s call brought me to Lanes Chapel.  Bro. Lou is an old college frind of mine....and that just makes my job even sweeter!" answers Bob, when asked what brought him to Lanes Chapel.

His  favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13  “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Jasen Thomas is the Director of Student Ministry at Lanes Chapel.  We call him "Jabo", which is his nickname from childhood.  Jabo graduated from Southern Christian University with a BA in Biblical Studies and has worked with Youth programs for 10 years.

"I felt the call to ministry at the age of 16 after preaching my first sermon.  I fought that call until I was about 23, when I surrendered.  I have always been a believer.   As a Pastor's son, God was always in my life, but I am passionate about following Jesus and being a vessel in his work."

Jabo's life verse is Isaiah 6:8 "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”  And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Amber started her career in Telecommunications, then moved onto Insurance.  

"I worked for the most wonderful woman in the world, Brenda Thomas. At that time I had been happily married for 5 years and had a two year old son.  While working with Brenda, God blessed us with twins so I decided to stay home with my 3 boys and return to school for my degree."

 Amber returned to with work with Brenda in 2006 and then received a Bachelors from UT Tyler in 2007.  At the beginning of 2010, she was praying for more of a challenge and looking for a new career.  God answered her prayers when Lanes Chapel UMC chose Amber for the Church Administrator.

"Now I’ve been married to my wonderful husband, Chad, for 13 years and love working for our Lord. I enjoy summertime on the lake, fishing in our creek, listening to music, and mostly spending time with family."

Vicki Munn went to work for God full-time in children’s ministry when she entered the public school system. 

"I truly believe that every child is a gift from God. I know that God wants me to share His love with every child that comes into my life.  My greatest joy in life outside my work is spending time with family and friends."

Lanes Chapel welcomed Mrs. Vicki as the Director Of Children's MInistry in 2011.

 "I believe everyone can make a joyful noise to the Lord! By combining talents and musical gifts, we can praise God extraordinarily and in one accord. I have felt God’s calling on my life in music ministry since I was very very young and have tried to faithfully serve Him for the past 30 years."

Melody loves Christian music and enjoys blending hymn tunes, gospel music and contemporary praise in our worship. She delights in challenging a person who feels “they can’t sing” to try a rehearsal. Then to see a person who steps out on faith, come to a rehearsal and be surrounded by joyous fellowship and mix their voice with others to praise our God.

"That is when they know they CAN sing if they just try!  I enjoy teaching new music for special services and especially delight when God uses our offering to make a beautiful sound of praise!"

Melody Hughes has been the director of music and worship at Lanes Chapel since 2006.  Her favorite chapter in the Bible is Psalms.   "He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God" Psalm 40:3  and "Sing a new song to the Lord! Let the whole earth sing to the Lord." Psalm 96:1 . She truley believes those promises from the Lord and lives up to her name in all she says and does!

Jo An Hall is the Director of Finance at Lanes Chapel.  She says that coming to Lanes Chapel was definitely a “God Thing”!

"My “missionary calling”, to me, is just a matter of location, really. Being where God can use me and to be open.  I feel God brought me here as part of my calling to serve Him.   And, I am so thankful I listened!"
