Part-time Worship Director
Responsibilities:
-Work closely with worship groups in selecting music and content appropriate to worship services and special events
-Present proposed worship music at weekly staff meeting
-Rehearse and direct chancel choir each week, including at least one monthly choral special
-Organize and rehearse praise team and band, as well as worship technicians on a weekly basis
-Schedule and coordinate guest worship talent as needed
-Provide outline of service content for media, video, and sound technicians
-Make and distribute copies of worship music for choir, praise team and band, as well as guest participants
-Work with church accompanist to select music for early service
-Oversee worship music information to be included in weekly church bulletin
-Establish and provide a weekly worship check list for each Sunday
-Attend and lead worship for both early and late Sunday services
-Rehearse worship groups on Sundays as appropriate
-Encourage the involvement of new members in worship services
-Promote and encourage the development of new vocal and instrumental ensembles
-Attend continuing education opportunities for music, worship and other related topics to stay on top of current trends in the field
-Provide an atmosphere in all situations, which is appropriate according to the highest standards of Christian ethics
-Provide devotional and prayer time at all rehearsals to develop a caring and nurturing worship community
-Keep and submit documented hours to supervisor each week
-Prepare, submit, and monitor the annual worship budget
-Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications
-Active follower of Christ who models high Christian principles
-Degree in music and arts is preferred
-Preferably 3-5 years experience leading choirs and praise bands
-Choral and teaching aptitude
-Excellent interpersonal skills including outgoing personality and ability to recruit and motivate volunteers
-Effective organizational skills
-Strong computer skills
-Experience with MediaShout a plus
-Availability to work a flexible work schedule including Sundays and evenings
