NEXT MONTH IN JERUSALEM!

Dear Friends,

One of the goals of our children’s programming at Lanes Chapel is to give every child who attends Sunday School, Children’s Church, or Kids for Christ a love for Bible stories and some knowledge of them. Over and over again the Scriptures stress the importance of teaching the things of God to your child.

Deuteronomy 6:4-7 says, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give to you are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

Pam Newman is putting up a new bulletin board in her 4th-5th grade Sunday school classroom with a huge question
mark in the middle. The point is—which will you choose, the world’s way or God’s way??? Our children are exposed every day to worldly values that idolize materialism, self, and the pursuit of pleasure. Unless we as parents diligently teach our children the absolute standards established by God in Scripture, our children will lack a solid foundation to build their lives on.

We cannot begin too early to teach our children Bible truths. Trust God to put the understanding for these big concepts in your child’s young heart by the same Holy Spirit Who enlightens the hearts of all those who are responding to Him at any age.

Many parents find that bedtime is a good opportunity for reading to their child a few verses from the Bible or a story from a children’s Bible storybook. As you persevere in reading short passages from the Bible to your child, s/he will come to love and value God’s Word, and this special time shared with you.

“I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.” Psalm 119:16

May God bless you and your children this week as you learn more of Him.

Love,
Lee Anne Meyers
